How "coverage" actually works

Not a hard boundary on a map - a matter of who's quoting near you.

It's tempting to think of coverage the way you'd think of a delivery zone: inside the line, you're covered; outside it, you're not. That's not quite how a carrier network works. When you post a job, houseclearance.co doesn't dispatch a van from a central depot - it opens your job up to licensed carriers who operate in or near your postcode, and whichever of them are actually free that week decide whether to quote. So coverage in practice depends on carrier availability at the time you post, not on a fixed boundary drawn in advance.

That also means coverage can vary a little week to week and job to job. A postcode with several active carriers nearby will usually see more quotes and more competitive pricing than one where only a couple of carriers currently operate. Neither situation means the postcode is excluded - it just means the number and speed of quotes can differ.

Inner and Outer London also throw up genuinely different access conditions, and that affects how carriers price and schedule a job far more than it affects whether they'll take it on at all. Inner boroughs - think Camden, Islington, Hackney, Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, Southwark, Lambeth, or Tower Hamlets - tend to have narrower streets, period conversion flats with awkward stairs, controlled parking zones, and sometimes Ultra Low Emission Zone considerations for a carrier's vehicle. Outer boroughs - places like Bromley, Havering, Hillingdon, Sutton, Bexley, or Enfield - more often have driveway or off-street parking and larger detached or semi-detached properties, which can make loading quicker but sometimes means a bigger overall volume to shift. Both patterns are generalisations rather than rules, and every property is different, but it's exactly why carriers ask for a postcode and access notes before they quote, rather than pricing every job in London the same way.

If your address sits just outside one of these boundaries but is still within the wider M25 area, that's not a reason to hold off posting a job. Coverage is decided by which carriers are actively quoting near your postcode, not by which side of a borough line you're technically on.

A few things worth clearing up before you post a job.

Do you cover my postcode?

Almost certainly, if you're anywhere in Greater London - that's what the platform is built for. Whether a carrier is actively available to quote on your specific job is a separate question, and one the platform can only really answer once you post the job and see who responds. The safest way to check is simply to get a price estimate and post - there's no cost or commitment at that stage.

What if no carrier is available near me?

This can happen occasionally, particularly in areas with fewer onboarded carriers or during unusually busy periods. If it does, the job stays open rather than disappearing, so a carrier can still pick it up as availability changes. It's an honest limitation of a carrier network rather than something we'd want to hide - coverage depends on carrier supply, and supply isn't identical everywhere yet.

Is coverage the same in every borough?

The intent is yes - every borough listed above is one we're designed to serve. In practice, the number of carriers actively quoting can differ from one postcode to another, and access conditions (narrow streets and parking restrictions in parts of Inner London versus larger driveway-access properties in parts of Outer London) can affect how a carrier prices and schedules a job. None of that changes whether an area is covered - it just affects the quotes you're likely to see.

Does being outside a named borough rule me out?

No. The 33 areas listed above are the core of Greater London, but a property just beyond a borough boundary and still within the M25 is still worth posting a job for. Carriers quote based on postcode and distance, not on whether you fall inside a line on this particular page.
